Reuben BoteWildlife Tracker
Rueben is an exceptional wildlife tracker from a community close the western border of Savé Valley Conservancy (SVC) in Zimbabwe. Reuben began his employment in 1992 tracking endangered black rhinos in SVC. His work involved tracking rhinos to ensure their protection from poachers and for population monitoring. In 1996, Reuben began working for the Lowveld Wild Dog Project (LWDP) in SVC, tracking this endangered species for various conservation goals. He still tracks wild dogs for LWDP and also collects data for an AWCF-supported bushmeat trade study. Perhaps Ruben’s greatest strength as a tracker is his ability to understand the behavior of the wild dogs we study and predict where they are likely to be headed and what they might be doing. |
