Human-Wildlife Conflict

We recognize that a key factor in securing the future of wildlife is to ensure that local communities benefit from the presence of wildlife.

Human-wildlife conflicts impose economic costs on local communities, reducing their support for conservation initiatives.

Our projects focus on reducing the possibility of economic damage caused by wildlife, such as elephants that raid crops or carnivores that kill livestock, by monitoring damage and recommending appropriate range separations. We also examine the issue of disease transfer between wildlife and livestock, and develop methodologies to reduce the effects of disease.
