About the African Wildlife Conservation Fund
The African Wildlife Conservation Fund (AWCF) is a non-profit organisation, established in 2007 to continue, expand and support the valuable conservation work that was begun in 1997 by two of our founding members, Dr Stephanie Romañach and Dr Peter Lindsey. AWCF now works mainly in Zimbabwe, a country where conservation needs are critical and people-power on the ground is minimal.
We pride ourselves on being a small, grass-roots, hands-on organization. All staff (mostly local Zimbabweans) are actively and intimately involved with the projects the fund supports. We work closely with local stakeholders to find solutions to individual conservation problems. In addition to our own work, we support the efforts of local groups engaged in conservation activities.
The fund supports a variety of projects that have scientific, conservation, and economic development components.
Our Mission Statement
To promote and support conservation and community development through the provision of targeted technical, educational and financial support.
